You can also store, share and synch presets across a network or even through a shared folder in the cloud, so the creative options with Exposure really are boundless I am looking forward to getting my teeth into this program over the next few weeks. It should be available some time in June and I was keen to give it a once over.
This is just a quick side review however, I will do a much more comprehensive review in a couple of weeks. Lets cut to the chase with a film preset comparison between Exposure 6 VSCO FILM pack 3. Alien Exposure 6 Software I GravitateVSCO is the software I gravitate to in Lightroom for color, and 100 to Silver Effects Pro 2 for BW. I am a big fan of VSCO Fuji FP100C preset so obviously have chosen it for the 3 pictures below. They should give you an idea of the subtle differences each company has taken when trying to re-create this great instant film. By the way, Kenny shot the image above with a Canon 6D Leica Summilux-R 80mm f1.4. I have also included some images below taken with a Leica M9-P Voigtlander 50 f1.5 (new version). Click on the individual images to see the full frame. Again until we get some actual film FP100c images, the conclusions are kinda mute, as both presets might suck when compared to the real thing. A side note, I am really liking the new streamlined interface. Lets see how Exposure 6 stacks up to Google Silver Efex Pro 2 Not too bad at all, I still think Silver Efex Pro 2 is the winner here. ![]() I should point out that the images above have had NOTHING done to them out of camera except the presets added. SO HERE IS WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO ACCORDING TO ALIEN SKINS WEBSITE Here are just some of the highlights of what you can expect to see when it launches in June: Bokeh Yep, weve rolled in all the powerful functionality of Bokeh 2 to provide creative focus effects from fast lens simulation through to tiltshift and motion blur looks right within Exposure. Weve updated the image processing engine to make Exposure 6 as quick as it can be from start to finish. Everything from opening up images to providing full-sized instant previews has been optimized. Weve overhauled the user interface to improve the aesthetics and streamline navigation as much as possible. For example, with Exposure 6 you can see preview thumbnails if you like, but you now have the option to see the presets in just text format if you prefer. This, combined with the full-sized instant previews, means you can experiment with the look youre going for by simply mousing over the preset names until you find a match. Another new feature that weve added based on feedback from our users is the brand spanking new basic control panel. This panel contains individual sliders for exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, clarity, vibrance and saturation. Often different effects will require a subtle tweak to these settings, so this addition definitely helps streamline workflow across the board. For Exposure 6, we consulted with industry-leading photographers Parker J Pfister and Jeff Ascough in order to get their insight to make the software as useful as possible for everyone from hobbyists right up to working photographers. A lot of subtle features like the new dark grey background and list view of presets came as a result of their input. Alien Exposure 6 Archive And WeWith regard to effects, Parker also worked with us to supply two new sets of vintage borders and film frames from his extensive archive and we have added a good number of our own along with a whole host of brand new light effects. Thats not all though; the really cool thing is that you can now import your own borders, textures and light effects.
